  • A wireless capable device that allows you to download an apps
  • The GoChip App for your device
  • A one-time setup GoChip account (using your email address)
  • The following instructions:

Getting Started with your Beam

  1. Download the app, create your account and log in

Visit gochip.com/apps on your smart phone, tablet or PC to download the app, then create an account and log in.

  1. Power on the Beam

Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds until the right light turns solid green.

  1. Connect your device

On your mobile device, open Settings > Wi-Fi to connect to the GoChip Beam (see label on your Beam for network name and password), then wait for an indication that your device is connected. Please note: when you connect to your Beam, your device may let you know that you are no longer connected to the Internet. This is expected behavior because you are now connected to the Beam and not to the Internet—giving you access to all your movies & TV shows from the GoChip—without Internet access, streaming or downloading.

  1. Just Play!

Start the GoChip app and enjoy your movie or TV show. You can connect up to 8 devices at the same: each person playing what they want, when they want. It’s truly magic! You provide the popcorn, we provide the fun.

  1. Power off the Beam

Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds until the right green light turns off.

Troubleshooting:

When I connect to the Beam it says I no longer have an Internet connection. I’m a bit confused by this message.

When you connect to your Beam, your device may let you know that you are no longer connected to the Internet. This is expected behavior because you are now connected to the Beam and not to the Internet, giving you access to all your movies and TV shows without streaming or downloading from the Internet. This allows you to play movies and TV shows without the extra data charges—no matter where you go—even if you have no Internet.

I’m pressing the Beam power button and the right light turns on, but then goes off.

To power on the Beam, you need to press and hold the power button for at least 3 seconds. It is designed this way so that you don’t turn it on accidently, causing the battery to run out. Once the Beam is powered on, the right green light will remain solid until you power off the Beam by pressing and holding the button for 3 seconds.

Give the Beam time to start up before you connect your device. You have to wait about a minute after powering on the Beam to allow it time to start up. It’s getting ready to serve up great entertainment, so it’s worth waiting. As soon as the middle white light blinks 8 times, you can connect to it by using your Wi-Fi preferences on your device.

Testing the Beam battery charge level. When you quickly press the power button without holding it down, the right light will turn on for about 3 seconds. This indicates the battery charge level. Green shows a 90% or greater charge. Yellow means 10–90% charge and Red, about 10% or less charge. If you are in a place where you can charge the Beam while playing content, it is highly recommended to extend the battery life so you can enjoy hours and hours of entertainment.

I’m trying to connect to the Beam, but it isn’t showing up on my device.

Once you power on the Beam (by holding down the power button for 3 seconds), it takes about a minute before it’s ready to connect. When the Beam is ready for a connection, the middle light will flash white 8 times and then go solid and then remain off.
